to the RAF Leuchars Learning Centre |
The Learning Centre at RAF Leuchars offers a wide range of courses, information and other facilities. It can offer a great deal to station personnel wheher service or civilian. It has suitable accommodation for a wide range of learning, biefing nd study activities. It also has a wealth of information and opportunities for anyone interested in developing himself or herself personally or professonally.
They offer advice and guidance on all asspects of personal improvements, including: Further Education, NVQs, Learndirect courses, Resettlement advice and support, training needs and professional courses and advice on learning difficulties.

The facilities held in the Learning Centre are briefing & conference rooms.
A Vocational Training Suite, IT Training Room, Classrooms, Display areas,
Study areas and an Examination Room.

ECDL SVQ Level 2 IT
HNC Computing Engineering
NEBS Management
Free Microsoft Courses are also available in Word & Excel (Introduction and Advanced) plus Access and Powerpoint.
The Learning Centre at RAF Leuchars has been working towards becoming accredited as a registered Scottish University for Industry (SUfI) Centre. In partnership with Glenrothes College the centre has now been badged as "College@Leuchars". There will be a presentation held in the Training Development Flight (TDF) on 22 Feb 01 to commeate this event. Becoming a registered SUfI Centre will wnable us to enhance the service we currently provide by offering a wider range of learning opportunities and access to the Centre. the station will also be bidding for funding through SUfI which will eventually provide much improved facilities.
Due to popular demand the Learning Centre will be running RSA CLAIT courses in the Vocational Training Centre (VTC) as an evening class. The first course will begin on 12 February 01. Each course is 12 weeks long, 2 evenings per week (Monday and Tuesday) from 1800 to 2030 hrs. Each module will take 4 sessions and modules consist of word processing, databases and spreadsheets. The 4th evening of each module will be set aside for the examinations.
Entry Requirements are that students will need to have a basic knowledge of module content.
The full cost of the course is £150 (including examinations) and 80% is claimable on Standard Learning Credits. If you are a MOD Civilian then you can apply for 100% funding dependent on the type of work you might do.
New courses which the Learning Centre will hopefuly be providing are Assertiveness, Confidence Building and Psychology. These courses will be starting in the Spring.
