Our Mission:

The Station Learning centre is committed to the encouragement, promotion and development of lifelong learning to serving personnel, their families and MOD Civilian Personnel at RAF Lossiemouth

Although still developing we have offer a wide range of facilities and services for people to use, so, come and see what we have to offer! Learning Centre staff are available to answer any questions you may have about education and resettlement matters.

Current Facilities

Information/ Learning Resource Room - Holding a wide variety of information on learning opportunities available, both locally and nationally. Information on career paths, general learning advice, CV writing and much more. There is also a private study booth in the information room with printer and scanner, available for private study.
Private Study Area - Designated quiet area with 2 booths (1 with PC for quiet study. Telephone access is also available in this area. Classroom/ Conference Facilities - When free from course bookings, these rooms can be booked by personnel for meetings.
Internet Access - which can be booked in advance or as required, if available.
Private Interview Facilities - Available for those wishing to discuss their learning plans ina quiet confidential situation.
Rest Area - Coffee area where people can relax and have abrowse of daily newspapers, both local and national, as well as recruitment publications.

Services Offered

A Guidance Service is available where the Personal Learning Advisor offers a confidential, impartial and guidance service for those who want to discuss their personal development. Discussion of your current situation, your interests, your skills, and your goals for the future, possible barriers to achieving your goals and development of an Action Plan to achieve what has been discussed (which can be used within your PDR). Allowing you to focus on your goals and progress to your chosen goals.

Advice and information available on learning opportunities for those interested in finding out about what is available, both locally and nationwide, Forces Distance Learning Scheme, Open University and University Short Course Programme, NEBS Management NVQs, ECDL,HNC Aeronautical Engineering (Flexible Learning Option), Language Courses, Library Loan Scheme, Essential Skill information and support for learning, for example, dyslexia. Advice also available on funding for learning and out of area learning opportunities.

Exam Centre - We are an approved examination centre for the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) and the Assessment Qualification Alliance (AQA) for selected IGCSEs, GCSE O and A Level subjects.

Resettlement Information and Advice is available to all service personnel who are preparing/ thinking about leaving the RAF. Assistance with resettlement training, preparing for a new career, housing and vacancy bulletins are available.
