Your Station Learning Centre is located in historic Hillingdon House (Bdlg 40 – see map) the former HQ of No 11 (Fighter) Group during the Battle of Britain.

Today the building serves as a focal point for your further education and personal development needs.

The Station Learning Centre, with the official designation of Learning Forces Flt, occupies most of the ground floor alongside TD Flt.

• The services of a Personal Learning Advisor (PLA) to help you meet your further education and personal development ambitions, including:
  • Financial assistance schemes
  • Types of learning provision
  • Development and skills
  • Learning difficulties
• An information focal point for college prospectuses, set-books, exams, etc.
• A wide-ranging set of facilities and tools to help you with your studies.
• A bureau service to facilitate the prompt processing of your paperwork.

• Interested in studying on-line with Learndirect from over 800 courses?
• Want to study for the European Computer Driving Licence 2000?
• Want to study interactive CD-ROM based courses to complete in your own time and style?

• If you need somewhere quiet to study or research for that important essay then we have two acoustically screened private study areas complete with PCs & access to the Internet (see opposite).
• You can simply turn-up but you should think about booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
• Please remember that the Internet service available in the Private Study Areas is not broadband based.
• Simply sign for the keys and you can study away!

• Then perhaps you are thinking about making the most of your spare time.
• Our Language Library is growing and because of the nature of Service life nowadays it is becoming increasingly popular with people going OOA.
• You can study Arabic, French, German, Spanish, etc.
• Simply sign and you can take the package with you for the duration of your OOA duty, etc.
• We will shortly take delivery of translation software.
  
  

 

 

 

• In partnership with Uxbridge College we continue to run intensive IGCSE courses.
• These 5-day ‘crammer’ tutor-led courses take place at RAF Uxbridge (and Northolt) and are designed to get you to pass the examination.
• Students go on to take their examinations also at RAF Uxbridge.
• For the next tranche we aim to broaden the choice of subjects i.e. Physics and Business Studies.
• As a student you will get access to the Lending Library books and CD-ROMs to help you with your revision.
